Turkey is a country located in the Eastern Mediterranean region, bordering the Black Sea to the north, Georgia and Armenia to the northeast, Iran to the east, Iraq and Syria to the southeast, the Mediterranean Sea to the south, and Bulgaria and Greece to the west. It is a transcontinental country, with a small part in Europe and the majority of its territory in Asia.

Turkey has a population of about 84 million people and the official language is Turkish. The country has a presidential system of government, with the president serving as both head of state and government. The current president is Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who has been in power since 2003.

Turkey is a member of the United Nations, the Council of Europe, and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, among others. It is also a candidate for membership in the European Union.

Turkey has a diverse economy, with a mix of modern industry, traditional agriculture, and a growing service sector. It is the world's 13th-largest economy by nominal GDP. The country is a major exporter of textiles, clothing, and automotive parts, and it is also a significant producer of agricultural products, including wheat, tobacco, and fruit.
