Terrain is mostly low plains, with the hilly Northern Range crossing Trinidad and hillier terrain on Tobago. Insularity provides natural protection from overland invasion, though the narrow strait separating it from Venezuela leaves it geographically close to the South American mainland.

Landlocked, no coastline. Entirely mountainous, tucked high in the Pyrenees between France and Spain, with an alpine climate of cold winters and mild summers. Its steep, enclosed terrain makes large-scale invasion impractical, and the country's small size and natural isolation have long kept it outside major conflicts.
