About Macau

A tiny peninsula and reclaimed islands on China's Pearl River Delta, mostly flat urban terrain with a short, developed coastline. Subtropical, humid, and typhoon-prone in summer and autumn. Essentially indefensible as a standalone territory — no natural barriers, minimal depth, and complete dependence on and surrounded by mainland China.

About Afghanistan

Afghanistan is a country located in South and Central Asia. Geography & terrain

Landlocked, no coastline. Rugged and mountainous, dominated by the Hindu Kush range, with arid plains and deserts in the south and west. Climate is arid to semiarid, with harsh winters at altitude. Famously difficult to conquer and hold: the high passes and compartmentalized valleys favor local defenders and have worn down successive outside armies over centuries.
